Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, Lodge, Sunset Laguna Grande & Night Search Caimans
11:00 am: Meet at El Puente de Cuyabeno
Your guide will greet you, give an introduction to the reserve, and explain the entrance procedures. If you’re arriving by bus, we suggest the night shuttle, the most popular option among our travelers. See our transportation guide for more details.
Canoe trip to the lodge (approx. 2 hours)
We’ll travel along the Cuyabeno River to reach the lodge. Keep your eyes open for wildlife along the way. You may see monkeys, as well as birds, reptiles, and other mammals.
Lunch at the lodge
You’ll enjoy a meal and take some time to check in and rest before the afternoon activities.
Afternoon Laguna Grande
We’ll visit Laguna Grande where you can swim, take photos, and watch the sunset over the lagoon.
Night excursion: Search for Caimans and Boas
After returning to the lodge, we head out on a guided trip along the river to see these fascinating animals at night.
Dinner
Finish the day with dinner at the lodge. Afterwards, you can rest and get ready for the next day’s adventures.
Day 2: Deep Jungle Walk, Canoe Expedition & Night Walk
Breakfast
Start your day with a hearty meal at the lodge.
Morning rainforest walk (approx. 3 hours)
Take a canoe ride to a trail in the primary rainforest. With your bilingual, certified guide, you’ll walk through the forest, learning about plants and animals. Watch for birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals in their natural habitat.
Lunch and free time
Enjoy lunch, then relax at the lodge. You can swim, read, or watch for pink dolphins swimming in front of the lodge.
Afternoon River expedition
We take the canoe along the river to spot wildlife, including sloths, monkeys, parrots, dolphins, hoatzins, and caimans.
Night walk (45–60 minutes)
Together with your guide, you’ll explore the area around the lodge at night to see nocturnal animals in the rainforest.
Dinner
End the day with a meal at the lodge and rest for the night.
Day 3: Final Canoe Ride and Jungle Excursion
Early birdwatching
Rise early for a birdwatching experience and watch the birds as they start their day and look for breakfast.
Breakfast
Enjoy your final breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, pack your luggage and get ready for departure.
Morning river trip
We take a canoe from the lodge back to El Puente de Cuyabeno, with one last chance to see wildlife along the river.
11:00 am.: Farewell
