Welcome to Cuyabeno Wildlife Center, 25 years of expertise

Our Amazon Conservation Project

The Amazon Conservation Project is a third-party organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the unique ecosystem of the Amazon rainforest. Through sustainable practices and community involvement, we work to conserve the incredible biodiversity of the region and promote a healthier planet for generations to come.

"Nature is not just a job for me, it's a passion. I have spent my life exploring the Amazon rainforest and I am excited to share my knowledge and love for this incredible ecosystem with our guests of Cuyabeno Wildlife Center."

Giving Back to Nature & Community

The Amazon Conservation Project is a community-driven initiative born out of a desire to create a sustainable future for the Amazon rainforest and its people. Founded by two local guides with years of experience in the reserve, the organization is built on the understanding that tourism can be a potent force for both conservation and community development

At its core, the project prioritizes sustainable practices and community engagement, ensuring that every endeavor supports both the ecological balance of the rainforest and the well-being of its indigenous inhabitants. By collaborating closely with local communities, the project not only provides vital support for education and healthcare initiatives but also empowers residents through sustainable employment opportunities in ecotourism. Additionally, a significant portion of the proceeds from tours and activities is reinvested into conservation efforts, directly contributing to wildlife protection, habitat preservation, and environmental education programs.

When you travel with us at the Cuyabeno Wildlife Center, you’re not just experiencing the wonders of the Amazon – you’re also supporting the local community and contributing to the protection of this precious ecosystem. It’s a win-win situation that we’re passionate about promoting and growing for years to come.

Conservation Today for a Better Tomorrow

What Needs Protecting

The Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve is a protected area in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest that spans over 603,000 hectares. It is home to an incredibly diverse array of flora and fauna, including many endangered species such as the pink river dolphin and the giant otter. The reserve’s pristine wetlands, rivers, and forests also provide important ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, water filtration, and soil conservation.

At Cuyabeno Wildlife Center, we are committed to the conservation of the Cuyabeno rainforests and its precious biodiversity. We work closely with the local community to ensure that they benefit from tourism in a way that is sustainable and culturally respectful.

Through our conservation efforts, we aim to protect the Cuyabeno Reserve from illegal hunting, deforestation, and other threats. We believe that by working together, we can create a brighter future for the Amazon Rainforest and the communities that depend on it.

"I am proud to work at the Cuyabeno Wildlife Center because it allows me to showcase the beauty and importance of our culture and environment to visitors from all over the world. Working here has not only provided me with a stable income but also the opportunity to learn and grow as a member of my community."
