7 días Work & Wander Cuyabeno

7 Days / 6 Nights

Itinerario

The Work & Wander program is flexible in length. The 7-day stay is our recommendation, but even 14 days or more are possible for this remote work program.

What your Workday can look like:

Sunrise Canoe Ride
Your morning begins with a calm canoe ride at sunrise, the best time to watch birds waking up over the lagoon.

Breakfast and Start of the Workday
After returning to the lodge, enjoy a full breakfast and settle into your workspace. You can work from the lounge, hammocks or a table by the river. Snacks, coffee and fresh juice are available throughout the day, and our solar-powered charging stations keep your devices ready. If you’re lucky, pink river dolphins might pass by while you work.

Midday Break and Lunch
Lunch is served at the lodge. It’s a good moment to disconnect for a bit and talk with other travelers before getting back to your tasks.

Afternoon Work or Jungle Break
Continue working in the afternoon or take a short break with a swim in the river or by using the paddle boards. You can also relax outside if you just need a mental reset.

Evening Wildlife Canoe Tour
Once your workday wraps up, join a guided canoe outing to look for monkeys, sloths, dolphins and caimans as the light changes over the river.

Dinner and Night Walk
After dinner, a short night walk gives you the chance to see the forest’s nocturnal life before heading to bed for a quiet night at the lodge.

You can check our 5-day tour itinerary as an example. There are usually 2 to 3 activities per day, depending on the group. Please note that these are group activities from our regular programs and not private tours.

Why choose Cuyabeno for Remote Work?

Online Connectivity:
With Starlink internet, you stay reliably connected while working remotely in the Amazon. This service is exclusive to digital nomads on the Work & Wander tour for a smooth experience.

Flexible Work-Tour Balance:
Our program is designed for remote workers with flexible schedules. You can work at your own pace and join group activities whenever it suits you. We recommend this experience for those who aren’t tied to fixed office hours.

Workplace and Service:
Our main lobby offers an open workspace with views of the rainforest and river. While you work, we’ll keep you refreshed with tasty snacks and fresh juices.

Activities possible:

Early morning birdwatching
Head out at sunrise to see the forest wake up. This is the best moment to spot colorful birds feeding and calling across the canopy.

Canoe navigations
Explore the Cuyabeno by canoe, moving through the rivers while looking for monkeys, sloths, dolphins and other wildlife along the banks.

Jungle hikes
Walk through primary rainforest with your guide, learning about plants, insects and animal behavior while experiencing the jungle up close.

Lagoon swimming
Enjoy a refreshing swim in the calm water of Laguna Grande, a perfect break during the warmest part of the day.

Lagoon sunsets
Visit Laguna Grande in the late afternoon to watch the sky change colors over the water. It’s one of the most iconic moments of any Cuyabeno tour.

Visiting communities
Spend time with local families, learn about their daily life and traditions, and see how they prepare foods like yucca-based casabe.

Night walks
After dark, explore the forest around the lodge to find insects, frogs and other nocturnal animals that only appear at night.

Ready to be a digital nomad in the Amazon of Ecuador?

FAQ’s

Q: What is the internet connection like in the Cuyabeno Amazon region?

A: We use a Starlink satellite connection that supports Wi-Fi for day-to-day remote work tasks. It works well for anyone who wants to combine productivity with time in the rainforest. If your work involves large file uploads or streaming, it’s good to plan those during slower hours.

Q: Is it possible to work remotely during a long-stay program in the Amazon?

A: Yes. Our Work and Wander tour is designed for digital nomads who want to work from the Amazon while enjoying the Cuyabeno rainforest. You can set up your workspace in the lounge, on the terrace or even in a hammock with river views. The quiet surroundings make it easier to focus, and you can step straight into nature whenever you need a break. In between your remote work, you can join a group tour activity to discover the jungle.

Q: Why choose a Work and Wander tour instead of a regular Cuyabeno tour in Ecuador?

A: Traditional tours are focused on daily excursions, while this program gives you the flexibility digital nomads need. You still enjoy Amazon wildlife, lagoon sunsets and community visits, but with enough structured work time built into the day. It’s a way to experience the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve without pausing your job or rushing through activities. That’s also part of the reason why we chose to make these programs longer, so you can do everything at your own pace.

Q: Is there phone signal in the Cuyabeno Reserve?

A: There is no phone signal inside the reserve. Contact will have to be made through the Wi-Fi. Let colleagues, friends and family know ahead of time that you’ll be unavailable on regular phone calls.

Q: What are the benefits of working remotely in nature?
A: Many guests say they feel more focused and relaxed in the rainforest. The quiet mornings, natural light and absence of city noise make deep work easier. When you need a reset, you can enjoy paddle boarding, swim in the lagoon or watch dolphins pass by. Being surrounded by nature often helps with creativity, sleep and overall well-being.
Q: How long do people usually stay on a Work and Wander trip?
A: Most digital nomads choose a longer stay, most opting for 14 days. However, the number of days can be adjusted to your wishes. This gives you enough time to settle into a routine, experience the area at a slower pace and still enjoy the main wildlife activities that make Cuyabeno one of the top Amazon destinations in Ecuador.
