From this point, we travel by motorized canoe.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #444;\">Downriver navigation (approx. 3 hours)<\/strong><br \/>The canoe ride takes around three hours to La Bocana, where the Aguarico River meets the Cuyabeno River. There is a good chance to see birds, monkeys, and sometimes pink river dolphins. You can spot much of the wildlife with the naked eye, but binoculars help. We carry binoculars for shared use.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #444;\">Arrival at the lodge<\/strong><br \/>We continue upstream along the Cuyabeno River for about 30 minutes until we reach the lodge. After that, we prepare our equipment for a longer river journey.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #444;\">Canoe journey toward the Peru border<\/strong><br \/>By motorized canoe, we travel toward La Bocana again, where white and black water rivers meet. From here, we continue downstream along the Aguarico River toward the Ecuador\u2013Peru border. This section takes around four hours and passes through flooded forest areas. There is a good chance to see dolphins, birds, and other wildlife.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #444;\">Lagartococha River and Kichwa community visit<\/strong><br \/>We turn upstream into the Lagartococha River, moving slowly while looking for animals. Along the way, we stop at a Kichwa family farm for a boxed lunch and to pick up local products used for our meals.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #444;\">Camping at Zancudococha<\/strong><br \/>In the afternoon, we arrive at Redondococha, located within the Kichwa community of Zancudococha. We set up camp on raised platforms for two nights. The winding rivers are home to bird species that live on floating grass islands.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #444;\">Lunch and rest at camp<\/strong><br \/>After making our way back, we stop for lunch at camp and take a short rest.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #444;\">Aguarico River &amp; Iripari creek journey<\/strong><br \/>In the afternoon, we travel by canoe to the Lagarto River. There is a good chance of spotting pink river dolphins. From there, we head upstream along the Aguarico River toward the Kichwa community of Zancudococha. We then enter the narrow Iripari creek, a 45-minute journey through narrow channels and thick forest.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: #444;\">Zancudococha Lagoon &amp; sunset<\/strong><br \/>We arrive at the Iripari or Zancudococha Lagoon, one of the largest blackwater lakes in the region, and set up camp for the next two nights.
