We were under the guidance of three knowledgeable tour guides: Esmeralda brought us on the two-hour trip by boat to the lodge. She was our first guide and so we were amazed by everything that we were able to see with her- so many different birds, monkeys, and even an anaconda. Then once we arrived, Victor Hugo was our main tour guide for the next three days. He's full of information about the area and all the wildlife that lives there. I don't think there was a single question we had that he could not answer. What's what bird sound from afar? Victor knows. He filled us with fun facts while showing us the most amazing things. We were able to spot a whole family of otters. Otters!! He's also got an eagle's eye for spotting things- like a small cayman from 20 meters away. Whatever you are interested, Victor will try to find it for you. Fun fact, he also took a lot of the professional looking photos that are hanging up in the cafeteria\/lounge area. Our last guide was Alexandra who led us back from the lodge to the pick-up spot. We had some great conversations and for someone who only just started learning English 6-months ago, she's has made huge progress and is now a wonderful guide. Most of all, she's always willing to learn new words and is such a smiley person. We also saw an anaconda on the way back which really made it a full-circle experience. The food was sooooo delicious, every single day. There were so many fresh vegetables and fruits and the staff work with any food restrictions, diets, or allergies you might have. The rooms were also really comfortable and they even had hot water, which was a huge plus. At night, the jungle comes to life with sound. My friend and I really appreciated all three of our guides and were really pleased to see such great representation of genders and local indigenous people on the staff. Out guide was Jorge and he was so wise and knowledgeable about the forest and all the animals. The food was really good and changes everyday which was nice, the beds were comfy but expect to see some bugs (cause it\u2019s the amazon duh) but overall we left with only a 1-5 bug bites. Make sure to wear long pants and long sleeves to avoid mosquitos and you will be fine. The hikes can be challenging but in a wonderful way. The community visit is great but remember to bring lots of cash. Note you can only pay your bar tab with cash and after paying 20 bucks each for the Shamman we ran low. Auf das Cuyabeno Wildlife Center sind wir durch eine Google-Suche aufmerksam geworden. Von Anfang an verlief die Kommunikation mit Mike reibungslos. Ich pers\u00f6nlich finde, dass eine der wichtigsten Voraussetzungen bei der Planung einer Reise eine klare Kommunikation ist.\n\nIn diesen f\u00fcnf Tagen haben wir drei sehr professionelle Guides kennengelernt. William, Jorge und Esmeralda haben uns viel \u00fcber das Reservat und die Tierwelt beigebracht. Es war erstaunlich, wie sie die Wildtiere im Wald entdeckten, als w\u00e4re es die leichteste Sache der Welt. Es f\u00fchlte sich an, als h\u00e4tten sie Adleraugen.\n\nEin gro\u00dfes Dankesch\u00f6n an das gesamte Personal der Dolphin Lodge daf\u00fcr, dass auf meine Lebensmittelallergien jeden Tag R\u00fccksicht genommen wurde. Au\u00dferdem wurden wir dreimal t\u00e4glich mit k\u00f6stlichen Mahlzeiten mitten im Amazonas verw\u00f6hnt.\n\nDas Zimmer war sauber und wir hatten warmes Wasser.\n\nUnd nat\u00fcrlich auch vielen Dank an unsere Bootsf\u00fchrer, die uns jeden Tag auf dem Cuyabeno-Fluss transportiert haben.\n\nBesonders genossen haben wir die Tage ohne Internet und Mobilfunknetz. Informiert eure Familie unbedingt dar\u00fcber, dass es hier weder Internet noch Netzempfang gibt. The Amazon had been on my bucket list for a long time and it felt like the perfect time for an adventure. We were not disappointed.\nThis was such an incredible experience from start to finish. We took the overnight bus (which is indeed long) from Quito to Cuyabeno but it\u2019s decently comfortable and fairly scenic, with a number of stops along the route.\nOnce at the Cuyabeno lodge, you\u2019ll find your tour group and hop on a motorized canoe for another scenic trip to your respective lodge. Our guide, Jose, was truly phenomenal. We booked the 4 day Wild Amazonia tour and from start to finish he was joyful, passionate, knowledgeable, and patient. He\u2019s been doing this for 20+ years and it shows. He is truly a natural both with people and animals.\nThe lodge itself is quaint, but beautiful. We never really felt cramped in a private room and the lodge, by our last day, really did feel like a mini home. Different travelers are coming in and out and everyone was extremely respectful and kind. The staff were also great. water. Out guide was Jorge and he was so wise and knowledgeable about the forest and all the animals. The food was really good and changes everyday which was nice, the beds were comfy but expect to see some bugs (cause it\u2019s the amazon duh) but overall we left with only a 1-5 bug bites. Make sure to wear long pants and long sleeves to avoid mosquitos and you will be fine. The hikes can be challenging but in a wonderful way. The community visit is great but remember to bring lots of cash. Note you can only pay your bar tab with cash and after paying 20 bucks each for the Shamman we ran low. Auf das Cuyabeno Wildlife Center sind wir durch eine Google-Suche aufmerksam geworden. Von Anfang an verlief die Kommunikation mit Mike reibungslos. Ich pers\u00f6nlich finde, dass eine der wichtigsten Voraussetzungen bei der Planung einer Reise eine klare Kommunikation ist.\n\nIn diesen f\u00fcnf Tagen haben wir drei sehr professionelle Guides kennengelernt. William, Jorge und Esmeralda haben uns viel \u00fcber das Reservat und die Tierwelt beigebracht. Es war erstaunlich, wie sie die Wildtiere im Wald entdeckten, als w\u00e4re es die leichteste Sache der Welt. Es f\u00fchlte sich an, als h\u00e4tten sie Adleraugen.\n\nEin gro\u00dfes Dankesch\u00f6n an das gesamte Personal der Dolphin Lodge daf\u00fcr, dass auf meine Lebensmittelallergien jeden Tag R\u00fccksicht genommen wurde. Au\u00dferdem wurden wir dreimal t\u00e4glich mit k\u00f6stlichen Mahlzeiten mitten im Amazonas verw\u00f6hnt.\n\nDas Zimmer war sauber und wir hatten warmes Wasser.\n\nUnd nat\u00fcrlich auch vielen Dank an unsere Bootsf\u00fchrer, die uns jeden Tag auf dem Cuyabeno-Fluss transportiert haben.\n\nBesonders genossen haben wir die Tage ohne Internet und Mobilfunknetz. Informiert eure Familie unbedingt dar\u00fcber, dass es hier weder Internet noch Netzempfang gibt. The Amazon had been on my bucket list for a long time and it felt like the perfect time for an adventure. We were not disappointed.\nThis was such an incredible experience from start to finish. We took the overnight bus (which is indeed long) from Quito to Cuyabeno but it\u2019s decently comfortable and fairly scenic, with a number of stops along the route.\nOnce at the Cuyabeno lodge, you\u2019ll find your tour group and hop on a motorized canoe for another scenic trip to your respective lodge. Our guide, Jose, was truly phenomenal. We booked the 4 day Wild Amazonia tour and from start to finish he was joyful, passionate, knowledgeable, and patient. He\u2019s been doing this for 20+ years and it shows. He is truly a natural both with people and animals.\nThe lodge itself is quaint, but beautiful. We never really felt cramped in a private room and the lodge, by our last day, really did feel like a mini home. Different travelers are coming in and out and everyone was extremely respectful and kind. The staff were also great.
