When The Jungle Glows

Day 1: Arrival in Coca, Limoncocha Exploration & Night Canoe with Fireflies

  • Your journey begins with your arrival in Coca (check our transportation guide). Our team will be waiting to meet you at the airport. From here, your adventure starts right away with a visit to Puerto Coca, including a walk along the docks and a short city tour to explore this riverside town.
  • Around midday, we’ll stop for lunch at a local community-run restaurant, where you’ll enjoy a typical Ecuadorian meal from a set menu.
  • After lunch, we’ll begin our drive to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, approximately 1.5 hours from Coca. Upon arrival, we’ll take a guided walk through the reserve, spending about two hours exploring its rich biodiversity. Your guide will introduce you to the unique flora and fauna of the area, with opportunities to spot monkeys, exotic birds, amphibians, and possibly caimans hiding in the lagoons.

  • As the light fades, we’ll transition to a short canoe activity to observe fireflies dancing across the water. Due to the high concentration of mosquitoes in the area, this activity is kept brief—20 to 25 minutes—but offers a magical moment in the Amazonian night.

  • Dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. in the Limoncocha community, featuring another menu-style meal with local dishes.

  • After dinner, we’ll continue our journey with a private transfer to Lago Agrio, where you’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel. The next morning, you’ll be ready and well-rested to begin your next adventure, perhaps joining one of our exciting Cuyabeno jungle tours.
